The Ferrari World Abu Dhabi is the world’s first and largest Ferrari theme park in the world. Jesse really wanted to visit this place to experience the speed and thrills offered by F1 racecar and feel the spirit of Ferrari.
It was a thirty minutes ride from Abu Dhabi city proper. At a distant you can see the magnificent and ultra-modern space frame structure highlighted with Ferrari’s signature white, silver and red colors. The place is the largest indoor park and is a famous venue for concerts and live performances by international stars and singers.
Bringing of food is prohibited so we only eat our lunch at the parking area because the food and meals inside are expensive. The cost of the ticket is 225 AED for a person 1.5 meters and above while 165 AED for below 1.5 meters. Lucky for me, I only pay 165 AED because of my petite structure.
In the park, Jesse, Catherine, Gerry, Elmer, and Titser Cesar first tried the G- Force ride found at the heart of the Ferrari world. It is a tower of speed cage in an enormous crystal funnel. Here you can feel the acceleration rush of a racecar and rocket-force made into one. As you will elevate 62 meters above the ground you can enjoy the birds-eye-view of the whole Yas Island. Then suddenly drop yourself at a speed of 42km/hr or 12m/s. You will have to catch your breath as you go along with varying ride scenarios.
Meanwhile, the kids- Andrei and Ken – went with their own adventure at Junior Grand Pix and Junior GT. I took a lot of photos and videos as these kids eagerly tried the driving attractions and feel like real Ferrari racers. At the Junior GT, the kids were required to watch an educational film and thought how to be like Junior Pilotas by understanding the road signs, following the stoplights, and navigating the kid-sized streetscape and roundabouts. But in Junior Grand Pix, the kids were piloting a perfectly scaled-down Ferrari F1 racer and honing their racing skills along a challenging pathways of tunnels and smashing turns. It’s a chance for them to take a ride and taste a Grand Pix experience just fit to their sizes.
Titser Cesar, Gerry, and Elmer explore to “Paddock” and have an exclusive experience of being on racing day. They first listen to the strategy and being challenged to change the F1 racer wheel in a fast and appropriate manner. Sadly, among the teams they’re the least to top the rank.
At about 4:00PM, we watched The Pit Lane show, a live entertainment of dazzling dancers and amazing performers as they spin, hop, jug, and move in synchronized dance steps that really entertained and enticed audience depicting the real life Formula One race from the start of the Grand Prix to the chequered flag. Dressed in a Ferrari trademark outfit, these people received a standing ovation and well-deserved appreciation because of their unique moves and charisma. That’s why we have souvenir photo takings after the 30-minute show.
We supposed to try the Formula Rosso but the super long queue of people will cause us to wait for three hours. This is supposed to be a one of a kind experience to ride the world’s fastest roller coaster that blast away our souls to a staggering speed of 240Km/h in just a few seconds. But instead, the guys tried the “driving with the champion”. A motion based simulator that get you from the GT to the F1 and follow the Fiorano tracts and the streets around Maranello. Everybody can feel the real-life extremes in temperature, moisture, light and movement ignite the senses and bring the adventure of driving like a champion to life.
Before leaving, we drop by at the “Ferrari Fast and Present” to shop for some souvenir items. At one part, you can see the timeless spirit of Ferrari Past that replicates the first garage and a replica of Alfa Romeo racecar. You can see for yourself vintage memorabilia such as old gas pumps. In the Ferrari Present section, you can find Ferrari F1 collectibles and ‘interactive zones’. But, I just bought a Ferrari Big Mug that costs 100 AED.
The special moments we have in the Ferrari World will keep our memories alive with the awesome speed and thrills that brought fun and excitement throughout the day.
