Chocolate Chip Cookies

The chewy and soft Choco Chip Cookies

Chocolate Chip Cookie is one of my son Andrei's favorite because of the perfect mixture of butter and a combination of white and brown sugars which produces a rich and chewy cookie. After dozens of test recipes, I have come up with the chocolate chip cookie that is ideal to my son's preferences.

But before i'll share the recipe and techniques, let me give you a glimpse on how this amazing cookies were invented.

The Chocolate Chip Cookie is known to be America's most famous cookie. It was invented in 1930 by Ruth Wakefield, who was the owner of the Toll House Inn in Massachusetts. The story goes that one day she decided to add small chunks of a Nestle's Semisweet Yellow Label Chocolate bar to her butter cookie dough. These 'chocolate chip' cookies were an instant hit with her customers and word of their popularity reached the Nestle company. Nestle must have realized that adding small chunks of their chocolate bar to cookie dough would appeal to the mass market because by 1939 Nestle had already developed, and was selling, small chocolate morsels (or chips) in a yellow bag.

Today, young ones and adults can't resist to take a bite of chewy and soft cookies where the choco chips instantly melts in your mouth. The recipe is easy to make and a delicious treat for anyone. Just try it!

Ingredients

2 cups and 3 tbsp All Purpose Flour
3/4 tsp baking soda
3/4 tsp salt
3/4 cup (1 and half stick) butter
1 tbsp milk
1/2 cup white sugar
1 cup brown sugar
1 large egg
1 large egg yolk
2 tsp vanilla
1 1/2 cup semi- sweet chocolate chips (i choose Hershey)

Baking Tools
baking dish
parchment or wax paper
2 mixing bowl
spatula
electric beater
measuring cups
laddle
sifter
egg separator

Procedure

1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F. Line two large baking sheet with wax paper or parchment paper.

2. Sift together the flour, salt, and baking soda. Then set aside.

3. Using an electric mixer, cream together the butter, milk, brown sugar, white sugar until thoroughly blended.

4. Add in the egg, egg yolk, and vanilla. Mix together until well blended and smooth.

5. Slowly blend in the flour mixture and mix until just combined. Do not overbeat.

6. Add the chocolate chips and mix until they are evenly distributed throughout the batter, possibly for 30 seconds.

7. Drop by rounded 1 tbsp onto the prepared cookie sheet about 2 inches apart. Repeat until all dough is used.

8. Bake for 9 to 11 minutes in the preheat oven. The cookies should have golden brown edge and soft centers.

9. Remove from the oven and let cool on a baking sheet for 1 minute.

10. Transfer to a wire rack and let cool completely.

Andrei's favorite snack in school - he can actually each a bunch of them at one time..

My Notes

a. Before i creamed the butter, I place it first in a saucepan on a medium heat until it is melted.

b. Chocolate chips cookies especially Hershey will easily melt, so do not over mixed with the batter.

c. You can mold a cookie by pressing it with your fingers on the baking sheet.

d. You can add more aroma and color to the cookies by putting 1 tsp of cinnamon or 1 tsp of choco powder.
