Overnight at Seifah Beach

First Day - (November 25, 2011) - at about 9 o’clock in the morning we were off to our first destination – the Seifah Beach. As we got to out of Ruwi, I brought out some chips and the cheese-flavored Doritos, my favorite snack. They were delicious. I kept nibbling while enjoying the ride.
The trip was exciting but the road was pretty challenging with all the steep spots, blind curves, and had many hairpin bends. But the sceneries on our way were spectacular – rocky mountains, green vegetation, crystal clear lagoon, and the warm native inhabitants. You can really tell that Oman is blessed with natural and untouched beauty.

Many people particularly the expatriates like to travel to Seifah to escape the city, camp out in the beachfront, or perhaps just spend a whole day swimming and relaxing at the beach.

The brown sugary-like sands and shimmering blue water made this place unique that attract most tourists to visit even if the road to the gorgeous beach area was rough and bumpy.

Around 11 or 12, we arrived to Seifah Beach. We stopped while we came across a donkey and took a picture. The donkey was standing still as if really liking being photograph!

We drove closer to the foothills and set up a camp. Many campers were gradually arriving and setting up their tents too. It was already hot so my kids and I just stayed inside the car as the guys quickly put up our dome tents. As soon as the tents were up and food was unloaded we had our lunch (adobong manok and rice).

We hung out in the shaded portion of our camp to relax and nap. After sometime, Jesse, Gerry, and Enrico hiked up to the mountain and were able to see an aerial view of the great scene below - a perfect sea-arch loaded with beach campers. Jesse took a video of the scenic landscape.

Meanwhile, Catherine went to sleep to gain energy unminding the number of “robot flies” (as termed by my son Andrei) bothering around her. Melo and Andrei went for a short dip in the rushing beach water while I put Anyah to nap.

Later that afternoon, I went to the lovely beach side and sat near the rocks. It was perfect spot for snorkeling, at the headland of the northern edge of the beach. One thing that I love about this spot is that you can see colorful, tropical fish just a couple of steps from the shore! You can also go hiking on the foot of the headlands just like what the guys did a few hours ago. Others had brought their jetski and ATV and made an enjoyable ride along the coastline.

But I noticed that the beach has becoming dirty and polluted specially that people just left their garbage and remnants on the beach shore. For me, it is necessary for everyone to be cautious and keep the beach area clean. After all, the beach is a public area and offers hideaway for those who love nature and adventure.

At about 5PM, Gerry and Catherine went back to the city to buy kerosene and rice. It was a one hour drive from our campground. Right after sunset, Jesse and Enrico prepared our dinner. While I was attending the kids, Melo was piercing chicken on sticks for barbeque. It was already dark and gloomy, but Gerry and Catherine weren’t been back yet. We kept texting them as we were being worried. It was a great relief when they both finally showed up in our camp.

Altogether we took dinner under the starry and calm night despite that everyone back in Muladdah was experiencing heavy rainfalls. All we can hear were the sound of the waves from the short distance. We stayed up late, chatting, playing cards, and really having a good time in front of a bonfire. It was a great way to unload ourselves from stress and pressure, and just thinking nothing and freeing our minds from the demands of work and home.

The whole Seifah beach along with the sights and scene, is a must visit destination for everyone. We will definitely be back out there time and time again.
